Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Dark brown pour, light whisper of a tan head, soon varnishes like an old oak table. Rich aromas in there, licorice toffee, dark chocolate and butterscotch. Flavours of dark chocolate, licorice and coffee. Quite a vinous feel. Long alcohol burn. Nice dry roast finish. In essence low on carbonation but very flavoursome indeed.

Cask at EBF XVI, 09/11/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is bitter orange, straw, light caramel, fruit tang. Taste comprises light bread dough, hint of citrics, orange pith, straw. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finale with light grassy bitterness. Ok - average Golden Blonde affair.

Cask gravity at Beer Rebellion. It pours clear golden amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is earth, toast, sweet dough. The taste is toasty, grain, crisp bitterness, grassy, earth and some astringency with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not as hop-forward as I was hoping for, given the brewery name. But ’tis alright.

Gravity Dispense at EBF XVI, 07/11/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is caramel, grass, citric fruit. Taste comprises orange, light caramel, bread dough, light citrics. Medium bodied, dry finish with light bitterness. As I feared ... any new brewery who names themselves in a way similar to this one sets themselves up for a fall in terms of translating the name to the product ! Where are the hops ? Whelming affair.
