Description
Ossett Brewery purchased the Fernandes Brewery and Pub in 2007. Proud of its heritage and under the watchful eye of head brewer Paul Spencer, Ossett Brewery has continued to brew many of the original beers, whilst also devising many new brews which have become firm favourites. Brewer, Steve Hutchinson, now brews around 90 different beers a year from the pale ‘Straw-Weight’ at 2.8% to impenetrable black, full bodied stouts, such as ‘Voodoo’ at 5.0%.

Tried at the Cardinals Hat, Lincoln. Deep golden colour with a white head. Aroma vanilla and rhubarb. Taste sweet light those sweets. Medium body.

On tap at the golden eagle. Amber colour with an off white head. Aroma has floral notes and caramel. Taste balanced bittersweet with a light bitter finish.

Cask at the Stockbridge tap. Pours clear golden, nose is floral, lemon, lime, taste is sweet citrus, light grainy malts.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - bubble gum and oranges. Taste - bitter orange this time. Dry pithy finish. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good balance but nose was better than taste.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - lemon, herbs and malt. Taste - lemon again. Herbal lemon lozenge. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - this is decent.
