Description
Ossett Brewery purchased the Fernandes Brewery and Pub in 2007. Proud of its heritage and under the watchful eye of head brewer Paul Spencer, Ossett Brewery has continued to brew many of the original beers, whilst also devising many new brews which have become firm favourites. Brewer, Steve Hutchinson, now brews around 90 different beers a year from the pale ‘Straw-Weight’ at 2.8% to impenetrable black, full bodied stouts, such as ‘Voodoo’ at 5.0%.

Tried at the Cardinals Hat, Lincoln. Pale yellow golden colour with a nice lacy white head. Citrus and floral aroma. Taste light sweet. Easy and smooth to drink.

Leeds Beer Festival 2017. Clear yellow-blonde, hoppy, but blandish in this respect.

Cask @ Drink? Hebden Bridge. Clear golden, crisp and hoppy in the main. There’s a hint of fruit in its taste.

Cask @ Hop, Leeds. Resembles Hoegaarden in colour, and fairly similar in taste, except for a higher citric bitterness.

Cask at cloisters. Pours clear golden, nose is sweaty, toffee, grainy, taste is sweet, floral, grassy.

Very dark red, thin off-white head. Light malty aroma. Flavour is fruity malt, slightly sour, a bit of dry hop there too I think. Bitter aftertaste. Decent.

Really juicy grapefruit with soft malts and a herbel texture. Nice epa!

Tried at the Cardinals Hat, Lincoln. Pale golden colour with a thick lasting white head. Aroma floral, fruity, citrus and tropical aroma and taste which has malty depth. Nice one.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, 04/02/17. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white head. Nose is citric peel, straw, bready malts, melon, light hop trace. Taste comprises citric sherbets, straw, soft bread, melon, orange peel, toasted grains, airy malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tickle of juicy hop bitterness. Adequate hoppy pale.
