Description
Ossett Brewery purchased the Fernandes Brewery and Pub in 2007. Proud of its heritage and under the watchful eye of head brewer Paul Spencer, Ossett Brewery has continued to brew many of the original beers, whilst also devising many new brews which have become firm favourites. Brewer, Steve Hutchinson, now brews around 90 different beers a year from the pale ‘Straw-Weight’ at 2.8% to impenetrable black, full bodied stouts, such as ‘Voodoo’ at 5.0%.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is light grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light citrus, grass, woody floral hop bitter palate and a lingering toothpaste bitter finish. Moderate to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear straw colour with a thin white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is tropical fruit, grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big tropical fruit, citra hop light spice, toothpaste bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a reddish brown with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is light red berry fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet with a dry yeasty, over ripe fruit, resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Pale dishwater golden coloured with a thin head. Hopped with a sugary taste, some malt and a sweetened nose.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Clear copper-brown with a creamy head. Fairly gritty in its taste, its malts are most prominent in its nose.

Cask @ Three Pigeons, Halifax. Blonde with a small creamy head. Hopped with a light fruitiness that’s more stated in its nose. Fairly dry in its character.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Golden-blonde with a small creamy head. Crisp and lightly hopped with a slight floralness in its taste. There’s a sweetness to the ale too, most notably in its nose.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 6/5/2015. Golden with a thin, white, head. Big, grassy hop aroma, with lots of grapefruit and pineapple, a touch of creamy malts and dry finish. Enjoyable.
