Description
Ossett Brewery purchased the Fernandes Brewery and Pub in 2007. Proud of its heritage and under the watchful eye of head brewer Paul Spencer, Ossett Brewery has continued to brew many of the original beers, whilst also devising many new brews which have become firm favourites. Brewer, Steve Hutchinson, now brews around 90 different beers a year from the pale ‘Straw-Weight’ at 2.8% to impenetrable black, full bodied stouts, such as ‘Voodoo’ at 5.0%.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4 July 2018. Golden in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Some citrus fruit, leafy hops, hay, light malts and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Cask at Mad Hatters, Preston. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Light lemon and biscuit malt on the nose. Taste is more of the same. Clean finish.

11/6/2018. Cask at the Mean Eyed Cat, Newcastle. Pours slightly hazy pale gold with a small lasting white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, malt, grass, flowers, light caramel and vanilla. Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, creamy texture, very soft carbonation. Easy drinking IPA.

8/6/2018. Cask at the 27th Doncaster CAMRA Beer Festival. Pours attractive clear bright pale gold with a lasting bubbly off-white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, fruit, grain and herbal notes. Medium plus sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Light bitterness to finish.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, light fruit big woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a malt, light pepper spice, big dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask @ New Oxford, Salford. Copper with a thin head. Has a sticky-sweet texture and taste. Not a 'classic' mild in style.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Deep clear copper with a small head. It’s a robust malty ale, not quite as grain led as the name suggests but is surprisingly crisp.
