Cask at Pigs Ear '22, day one, 29/11/22. Lightly hazed golden with a lasting off white cap. Nose is orange peel, grass, toasted grains, airy malts. Taste comprises grass, tangerine, caramel, biscuit, straw. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, tiny cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin malts, a light grainy creamy sweetness. Ripe fruits, ripe orange. Floral sweetness. Light dry finish.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 23rd December 2021. Hazy dark amber with shallow, loose off-white foam and spot lacing. Caramel malt aroma with leafy hoppiness. Biscuit malt and soft fruits in-mouth with a hint of tangy orange. Finish of juicy orange, spices and sweet maltiness. Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from All Good Beer. Pours clear gold with a small, foamy white head. Lightly sweet with mild leafy bitterness, some semi-ripe tangerine, biscuits, a little English yeast, sun-kissed grains. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Alright balance in the finish, further soft citrus notes, lightly toasted malts, low bitterness. Drinks fine, could do with a bit more condition.

Bottle from Indiebeer, Holliway. Aroma is sweet and spicy, marmalade. Opaque light amber. Bubbly white head soon shrinks away almost entirely. Medium bitter. Some tart citrus. Spice. But it's the bitterness that is the focus. Although as I drink more an underlying sweetness is there if only ephemerally. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long finish. This is being described as the best bitter around but I'd suggest that traditionalists would not be keen. Other breweries would probably go with Pale Ale rather than Best Bitter. Enjoyable.
