Portmeirion is a folly tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It lies on the estuary of the River Dwyryd in the community of Penrhyndeudraeth, 2 miles from Porthmadog and 1 mile from Minffordd railway station.

Loved the prisoner ... first watched it 92/3 time when I was in the XIth form with my Dad ... who had recommended I watch the repeat on TV having watched it himself when first released. I also watched it all over again in 2015 ... time for another outing soon!
Black with a good sized khaki head.
Nose is dried fruit rinds, tobacco, mellow roast, cocoa powder.
Taste comprises cocoa powder, toffee, tea leaves, more tobacco, dried fruit rinds, brown bread.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.
Tidy stout.

21/2/2026. Bottle at ITFC Beer share. Bought from Portmeirion shop. Very good pour. Aroma is malted, toasted, touch of liquorice, coffee, toffee, and a meaty edge. Moderate sweetness, decent roasted bitterness. Quite enjoyable.

24/1/2026. Bottle at ITFC Beer share. From the “brewery”. Nice pour, lovely colour. Malty, fruity, dried fruits, hint of spice. Caramel and fruit cake. Really nice.

Bottle from The Ship Shop in Portmeirion. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, chocolate, hints of coffee. Taste: Roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of coffee. Floral hop backbone. Malty, smooth and a little creamy mouthfeel. Moderate sweet, light bitterness. Medium body, below average carbonation. Ok British Stout.

Bottle. Color: Clear ruby, beige head. Aroma: Malty, caramel. Taste: Malty, caramel, floral hoppy backbone. Light hints of citrus fruit. Moderate to over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium body, below average carbonation. Dry bittery finish. Ok.
