Tasting at Matt’s
Measured Final Gravity: 1042
Dark blood color. Deep blackberry aroma; it has a mild acidity, and humid shrubs. Sweet, but with nice astringency and acidity, rich.
Not really a mead, but I like berry wines and this a very good one.

Dark ruby color. Very nice aroma of sour cherries, amarena in liquor (Italian). Perfect body balance between sweetness, alcohol and moderate acidity, without being syrupy; very good cherry wine flavor; notably it has a mead flavor in the background too; the alcohol gently warms the mouth; soft cherry tannins, and more honey in the far final.
Elegant and intriguing, definitively it was artfully crafted.

Ruby color. Aroma of raspberry syrup, tart, some honey, and notes bordering the good French Cabernet Sauvignon (8+). Slick mouthfeel, moderately sweet for a mead, with good raspberry flavor, the expected tartness, very light tannins; the final is lightly lemony too. The alcohol warms the mouth, but is very well concealed. Compared to the cherry-based The Statement side to side, this is a good drink but it has less complexity and the honey/mead qualities are almost absent from the flavor.

Thanks Cparles for sharing. poured an ounce into a stemware (gotta drink less now that it’s getting late)
A - Very dark red, light with mild fingers.
S - Nose is a huge cherry aroma. just smells amazing!!!
T - Thick cherry taste, it is borderline cough medicine but in no unrefined way. very smooth. you get a bit of booze. sweet but mellow
M - Thick but not as viscous as I thought. boozy after taste
O - This is a very interesting mead. I can’t wait to try Statement Reserve.

Reviewed from notes.
Thanks Theresa for the bottle.
This was poured into a wine glass.
The appearance was a bright red color with a slim white - ness of a cap of bubbly head. There wasn’t any lacing whatsoever.
The smell had a decent sweet to tart blackberry that lightens a nice plum - like aroma.
The taste was semi - sweet with a nice light balanced acceptable tartness to taste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation came across fairly smooth and nice.
Overall, decent mead that does the job. Would I have it again? Maybe...As it’s just another mead to me.

375mL bottle, pours a dark ruby red with basically no head. Nose is full of fresh sweet raspberries, with a touch of honey. Flavour is luxurious, full of fresh red ripe raspberries, light oranges, and lush honey in the background. The ABV is scarily well-hidden, leaving no burn whatsoever on the finish. What a marvelous mead. Another gem from Schramm's.

375mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany / red wine like with no head. Nose is like a dry cherry-induced red wine, with oak, and moderate to light sweetness. Flavour is remarkably complex and smooth, with loads of lightly tart and moderately sweet cherries, with some light honey undercurrents. Scarily smooth for a 14% mead, with barely an alcohol burn. Nectar of the Gods right here - wonderful stuff.

Bottle. Pours a clear very deep dark purple with no head whatsoever. Aroma has lots of sweet dark fruit that combines nicely with the honey and has a bit of acid and dryness towards the finish. Flavor full of rich dark fruits with a growing sweetness but a hint of underlying acid adds a bit of bite to round it off perfectly.

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep purple with no head whatsoever. Aroma has some acid with a good amount of dry blackberry and a just a hint of dry honey underlying. Flavor has tons of dry blackberry, red wine like with a growing dryness through the finish, a growing acid note and a hint of honey.
