The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

Bottle from McTapps. Aroma is grainy hop and malt. Flavour is malt, grainy hop, light dry bitter finish.

Pours an amber color with a short lived head. Hoppy, grainy, caramel malt aroma.

Bottle from CBB. Pretty golden-orange color, low to medium head. Biscuity malt nose, peaches, grass, orange. Rich malt flavor, bready, grassy hops are light but still come though well. Oranges, apricots, biscuits and bread. Nice peppery finish. Enjoyable stuff that survived in remarkably good condition coming over here.

Bottle at CBB. Malty, biscuity nose, a bit old and oxidized, some caramel, no hop. Cloudy, deep gold. Sweet honey and biscuit flavor, a bit of peach and orange. Meh. It’s old, I mean not past drink by, but hasn’t traveled well at all. Tasty enough, but more like a Heller bock.

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for this bottle! Fresh and smooth beginning. Not too deep in body but easy ti drink. Hints of typical Heller Bock sweetness, malty grain on a moderate bitter aftertaste. Not too sweetish, soft and round. Nice but not too deep.

Keg at spitfire... Hazy orange amber... Small white head.... Light banana fruit nose... Way too fizzy... Juicy toffee fruit Malt.. Soft fruits

Viel zu starke Karbonisierung. Hefig hopfiger Antrunk, die Betonung liegt auf der Hefigkeit. Mild herb, grasig, nett aber kein IPA. 10/9/8/9/6/9

Trübe sehr dunkelgoldene Farbe, ordentliche weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht hefig, bananig, Ester. Geschmack nach Gewürznelke, nur wenig fruchtig, hefig, schwacher Körper, wässriger Abgang.
