Description
The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.

The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

Floral citrus-like nose. The beer starts slightly grainy, fresh and intense, moderate malty with a nice citrus character. Smooth with a great sourish background. Smooth malt, hints of grain, moderate bitter with a dry malty aftertaste together with citrus-orange smooth floral hops. Nice.

Bottle: Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, huge rocky off-white head; yeasty, malty aroma, but mainly sweet-bitter ; nose of oranges and grapefruits; moderate sweet bitter flavour and medium bodied and quite soft; lingering caramelly and sweet-bitter exotic-hoppy finish. Quite a fruit-accented, but pretty well balanced I.P.A. …

Pours hazy, dark brown. Really hazy, leaving even somewhat dirty impression. There is a bit of foam too. Cloves and banana in the aroma - and also in the taste. Sweet and warming. Light sourness from wheat. Nice and enjoyable.

Euro2-Flasche: Deep golden, nearly clear, mid-sized and pretty stable white head, visible carbonation; distinctive sweet-sour fruity and "woody" nose with the usual amount of caramel; moderate to robust sweet and slightly tart-sourish flavour, relatively light bodied; fruity-vinous and "woody" flavours in the relatively dry and tart finish. Very pleasant Wheat-Bock…

Bottle. Deep brown in colour, with a decent, off-white head. Rich, boozy, brown sugar and dark fruit aroma. Deep, almost vinous, flavours with berry fruits, toasted malts and a warming finish. Unusual and very enjoyable.
