Description
The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.

The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

0,5 l bottle. Murky flat orange in the glass. Nearly two finger white foamy head. Wheat yeast and clove on the nose. Taste starts with dry wheat and bitterness, sulfur, yeasty. Some banana and orange. Little bit rough aftertaste.

0,5 l bottle. A clear darkest red brown with an huge more than two finger foamy liegt beige head. Looks really good. Malty caramel smell. Taste is more roasty than expected, dry bitter hop with caramel and hop. Long lasting aftertaste.

Bottle picked up from Michael Planck brewery webshop, and consumed at home Tuesday 14th September 2021 whilst cooking a Seafood Stew and listening to Steve Lamaqs Evening Session on 6 Music. Pours warm gold with a white head, only a light haze. Fruity but the banana and clove elements are really shy here. Light sweetness, it's ok, actually it's better than ok but not amazing.

Bottle picked up in a mixed case from the brewery webshop and consumed at home sat outside, it's been a very hot 🔥 weekend but looks feels like we may get a thunderstorm soon, had this Sunday 15th August 2021 cooking a homemade Canelloni and about to put on some tunes. Pours dark amber, hazy, mid sized but not hugely impressive white head. Nice mouthfeel, soft, light banana, however not so noticeable on the aroma. Trying this alongside the masters of this style namely Schneider Weisse. Good beer but in terms of their output I prefer their lagers.

0,5 l bottle. Clear golden with an huge more than two finger white foamy head. Smooth intensive grainy caramel on the nose. Taste starts grainy, present bitter hop, increasing strong malt in the background, bready elements. Mid carbonated. Interesting stuff.

Bottle picked up from the brewery webshop and consumed at home sat outside after a busy night, we had Homemade Meatballs and Tomato Sauce for tea and we're currently listening to Marc Riley on 6 Music. Pours dark brown with an off-white head, banana, and toffee jostle for supremacy on the aroma, roasty with a little tangy dark fruit. This is thinner than expected for the abv and I would never have had this down as a 7.8abv beer. There is a little metallic back end, overall it is fine and enjoyable but not reaching the heady heights of the Helles and Heller Bock or even the really decent Pilsner.

Bottle picked up from the brewery webshop in a mixed case of 8 plus glass, and consumed at home Tuesday 20th July 2021 sat outside after a Beer School with Nat session, Level 2 Session 3. We had a Salmon Gratin for tea. Pours clear gold, excellent clarity, with a white head. Pours brown with a light beige head, caramel and a light maltiness on the nose and also in the mouth. Slight dusty hoppiness to this, a little bit lacking in character when compared to the impressive run of beers that had come before.

Bottle picked up from the brewery webshop in a mixed case of 8 plus glass, and consumed at home Tuesday 20th July 2021 currently on my Beer with Nat Level 2, Session 3 VBS course. We had a Salmon Gratin for tea. Pours clear gold, superb clarity, with a mid-sized white head. good hoppiness, fruity, really crisp, dry and grassy hops are all over this, actually, this is really dry. Super soft mouthfeel, great carbonation, not quite as good as the Helles or Heller Weizenbock, however, this is not far behind. I am super impressed with these guys.
