Description
The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.

The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

Clove, stewed prunes, spice cake nose. Mahogany, medium tan head, little retention. Tart raisin, brief molasses, plum. Medium body, moderate carbonation. A bit too tart for my taste.

Plank-Bier Helles, Flasche von REWE, Parsberg. - Dunkelgoldgelb, klar. 16oz can from Brewers Haven. Been a while since I've had a real German hefe, and its definitely not the wheat ales they try to pawn off as weizens in the USA. This is the real deal, no orange slice needed. Cloudy mahogany pour with a light beige towering head. Sweet malty aroma, cloves. Taste adds the banana and bubblegum flavors , brown bread, full and meaty. A bit on the sweeter side, but really top notch.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Intense yeasty-malty aroma. Starts strong, light alcoholic, intense yeasty notes. Hints of peaches, apricot. Interesting!

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, huge head. Starts mild, malty-yeasty, a bit washy. Dry and light sourish notes. Not too drinkable. Okay.

Nice refreshing beginning. A bit weak but still interesting smooth mild clove there. Moderate bitter, refreshing with a fruity grainy ending, hints of sourness, round and refreshing for 2.9%.
