Description
Remnant Brewing opened in 2018, founded by four friends with a passion for craft beer. Joel is the dollars and cents guy, and Dave is the dreamer with a can-do attitude. Brittany, our GM, brings years of hospitality experience and shapes our team to welcome you into our taprooms. Last, (but arguably most important!) Charlie, our Head Brewer, is the bread and butter of this operation. He brings 17+ years of brewing knowledge to the table and crafts the some of the best beers around.

Brewery draught, 11/6/24. Moderately hazy, maize-golden. Small, white head, lower retention. Fruity, playful nose. Not a big sniff of woody, vegetal crap that is Amarillo often these days. Soft, fruity esters, supportive dough and light honey from malt. Soft as hell with deep, succulent malts. Fruity, bitter, herbal and spicy like the Amarillo of yore. Clean and do balanced. Wow, Remnant is destroying the hoppy session ale game.

Brewery draught, 11/6/24. Lightly hazy, tangerine-peach-golden. Small, white head. Definitely something apricot-y. Very mild Brett, mild sacchs, lots of biscuit. No crude yeast notes. Juicy lactic and mildly tart Brett with something definitely earthy, definitely fruity. Could be the mushrooms! Whatever the case, this is a lovely, elegant saison with no clove, bubble gum, banana, etc...malty with high attenuation.

Brewery draught, 11/6/24. Lightly-to-moderately hazy, bronze-maize-golden. Small, white head. Hops and smoke, not actually clashing. Good acidity to balance the biscuit and other grains. Bit of peppery phenols lingering. Soft and malty with peppery, Belgian phenols and a bit of light fruit. Smoke is welcome, obscuring the clove spice, but there's still a bit too much clove for me.

10/10/2024. Cask at Nottingham Beer & Cider Festival 2024. Pours very slightly hazy pale golden orange with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, citrus, orange, straw, touch herbal, slightly eggy but not in a bad way. Medium sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery, light prickly carbonation. Easy drinker.

Brewery draught, 4/5/24. Clear dark amber. Beige head immediately to ring. Raisin, vanilla, spicy bourbon, moderate oak tannin with a touch of coconut. Excellent clarity and strength of aroma with no booziness. Doesn't smell too sweet. Soft and chewy with raisin and tons of barrel tannin. Vanilla, heavy toffee, excellent melt depth and attenuation. No booze. This is the richest, most balanced, maltiest of the Vision Quests I've had.

Brewery draught, 4/5/24. Moderately hazy bronze-golden. Small, white head at feeble cover. Intensely juicy nose of tropical fruit, Lem n and blueberry with no punchiness or onion. Deep malts, seemingly, adding honey and bread-like character. Clean. Malty, juicy, spicy, drying on the finish with earth and light conifer. Ample malt and bitterness with high attenuation. Clean and juicy. The hops play well together.

Brewery draught, 4/5/24. Moderately hazy, bronze-brass. Small ring of off-white bubbles. Juicy and with piquant acidity but also soft sugar to balance. Clean. Doesn't seem to punchy. Salinity noted on the finish helps soften, as well. Citrusy up front with dry, bitter acidity on top of somewhat sparse cracker-like malt. Doesn't thin out too much, though and maintains enough malt to stay balanced. Still, very, very dry. Salinity helps as does the heavy fruitiness. Low lactic character, not punchy.

Brewery draught, 4/5/24. Gently cloudy, muted blonde with a quickly-receding, white head. Bit of clove and white pepper with very biscuity, crackery malts. Not really any bubble gum or banana but I don't live the clove. Clean, otherwise. Heavy clove and white pepper with bubble gum hints. Feel like Remnant can/should do better than this very Americanized saison yeast profile. Hell, just pitch Dupont yeast. It's malty, dry and crisp with good malt depth and no husky malt or over-hopping, but it's just a bit too much clove/white pepper. Though I've certainly had much, much worse from American saisons.
