Description
Remnant Brewing opened in 2018, founded by four friends with a passion for craft beer. Joel is the dollars and cents guy, and Dave is the dreamer with a can-do attitude. Brittany, our GM, brings years of hospitality experience and shapes our team to welcome you into our taprooms. Last, (but arguably most important!) Charlie, our Head Brewer, is the bread and butter of this operation. He brings 17+ years of brewing knowledge to the table and crafts the some of the best beers around.

Brewery draught, 2/23/24. I think clear. Dark mahogany. Small, light-tan head quickly to ring. Fudgey Tootsie roll like the base beer. But some more mellowness and light bourbon tones here. But yeah, it's a lot of chocolate-vanilla-milk. Not boozey. Bourbon spice, oak tannin contributing coconut and big wood dryness with spicy notes returning alongside a medium body relative to its size. Significantly better than the base, mostly in account of having dried and mellowed, but also with more body and texture from the tannin. Still has some sharpness in places, could maybe use a few more months to mellow even more.

Brewery draught, 2/23/24. Dark cola, clear. Small beige head immediately to ring. Healthy bit of enjoyable rum in the nose, spicy and aromatic. Clean and lightly malty with toffee, molasses and spice box notes. No sharpness. Interestingly fruity up front. Raisins, cherries, grapes and light chocolate malt with a medium body. Rum adds floral spice and isn't sharp/aggressive. No big wood tannin. It's got more the feel of sour with the lighter body and strong attenuation and fruitiness. Yet the sourness here is the fruity malt and fruity, spicy rum. Moderate acidity. Still wouldn't hate a bit more malt depth, but that's usually the case. Really unique, interesting, difficult-to-classify beer. Really impressed that they didn't over-barrel this, which would have been easy to do.

Satellite draught, 1/27/24. Clear, medium-dark amber. Small ring of beige head. Whiskey in the nose is good and robust, with plentiful caramel and toffee to round out it out. Maybe a bit figgy, plummy and Irish whiskey-like. Sadly, I can't resist the bourbon, so non bourbon can be a bit of a letdown. But it's clean and not boozey. Soft, rich, lightly syrupy, lots of raisin, toffee and vanilla. The whiskey is lovely for what it is. Very dry, peppery and strong. Moderate oak, maybe a smidge of coconut and pineapple from the char/toast. Not boozey.

Satellite draught, 1/27/24. Lightly-to-moderately hazy, bright peach-maize. Small, yellow-tinted, well-retained head. Gentle tropical notes with moderate cracker malt. Clean, light. Peach, pear, citrus and light melon and berry. Good hop complexity with a medium-light body, good malt and attenuation. Lingering citrus and light tropical notes. Very clean. Not excessively crackery.

Satellite draught, 1/27/24. Moderately hazy, deep bronze. Small, white head to light cover quickly. Juicy, citrusy, earthy, lightly tropical with crusty, crackery malts. Clean with lingering pineapple. Soft, juicy, very tropical though oddly no spice, sulfur, green and very little mineral or white wine. Mostly it's pineapple, papaya and mango. No resin, booze. Well-attenuated.

Can pour from Andover Classic Wines. An opaque black with ring of beige head and light lacing. Aroma is subtle roasted malt, light yeasty tart quality. Taste is strong earthy roasted malt. Smooth, soft carbonation. A bit subtle and one-note but Ok, especially given relatively low ABV.

16 oz. can shared by tfontana. The aroma is earthy grain with some soft yeast notes. The flavor has a weak malt body that ends with earthy notes. It is ok.

A fabulous face-full of NEIPA at it's best. Fill a bath with it and leave me to absorb...
