On tap as part of a flight at the brewery. Appearance opaque black with no sparkle, thin cap of beige head with no lacing. Aroma is strong chocolate covered cherries. Taste is strong cherry dominant over chocolate and roasted malts. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a little too cherry and too little chocolate. Mouthfeel could use some oats.

On tap as part of a flight at the brewery. Appearance is opaque black with no sparkle, thin cap of beige head with light lacing. Aroma is strong chocolate/fudge and malt. Taste is strong cacao/chocolate, roasted malt, hint of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth texture, average to lively carbonation, late moderate pepper heat and finish as taste. Overall, a really good example of the style without excessive heat but enough to let you know it’s there.

Draught at the brewery, 9/9/16.
Dark, maple-amber body has strong chestnut highlights, a good clarity and a small-to-medium, beige head showing moderate retention.
Lots of maple and pumpkin fill the nose. It’s clear these guys are good at extracting the desired aromatic compounds from adjuncts, and not going overboard. Seems to help that they are using, real, whole, quality ingredients too. Light spice is nicely done in the background and vanilla-honey maltiness helps balance and add substance to the nose. No alcohol or flaw.
Sweet, lightly sticky and with plenty of maple in the flavor, the pumpkin isn’t overdone, and light caramel and vanilla malt notes are found, as well as a malty, but well-attenuated texture. Light spicing lingers nicely, along with authentic pumpkin character and maple sugars (light). Great stuff. Should be able to appreciate the quality here, regardless of whether you like pumpkin, as that is very well-done here. Maple’s a bit stronger, but still not overdone.

Draught at the brewery, 9/9/16.
I will preface this by saying that the brewer freely admitted the coconut is very intensely-done here and so I certainly take that in to account.
The beer is a rather muddy, drab, mahogany with deep auburn tints and a small, dark beige head atop showing low retention, no doubt mostly in part from the adjuncts.
In the nose, it’s immediately full of coconut. Fresh, liberraly-used coconut that smells real, but very dominant. It transitions slowly, at first, to a juicy, lightly tangy pineapple with dry, earthy, roasty cacao notes on the edges. Seems quite dry from the nose, as there certainly isn’t much in the way of deep, rich, sumptuous malts. That’s fine, I suppose, and I’m glad it doesn’t seem like it will be too sweet, but some more base malt character would certainly help balance the coconut and pineapple better. Clean and with no alcohol noted.
Big coconut-pineapple flavors abound in the mouth, with a very dry, somewhat undermalted or overattenuated feel to it. It’s borderline and I do appreciate the dryness, but it does need a touch more malt sweetness and just all around maltiness for body/texture. Cacao notes in the background and bitter chocolate, light powdered cocoa and a touch of roast, with light milk chocolate and lots of juicy pineapple lingering. Moderately roasty overall, but much of it overshadowed by the pineapple and coconut. So overall, definitely very much on to something here and I don’t even like coconut very much. Just needs a little more maltiness all around. Though I do like that they erred on the side of more dry instead of less.

Draught at the brewery, 9/9/16.
Lightly to moderately hazy, copper-tinted golden body is topped by a small to medium, off-white head with moderate to low retention.
Very strong blueberry in the nose but it’s very much authentic; no concentrate/syrup/whatever here. Obviously the wheat beer element doesn’t add too much, though there is light sweetness from the malt as well as light biscuity notes. The blueberry is juicy and sweet and very aromatic. Beer is clean with no alcohol.
In the mouth it’s fruity, juicy, rather rich in the blueberry department, but with enough malt and wheat softness/substantiality to balance out the blueberry. The beer certainly is rather one-sided in that it’s mostly blueberry flavor, but it’s deliciously authentic and while lightly sweet, the beer still shows good attenuation. Ample, engaging carbonation, no flaw or alcohol. Very well done rendition of a much-maligned, and usually for good reason, style.
