Can pour from Beer and Wine Nation. It's an opaque dark brown with light sparkle, finger-plus width tan foamy head with excellent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is strong mix of sweet and earthy roasted malt with toffee, anise and hint of dark fruit. Taste follows aroma. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, good strength and good complexity in a non-adjuncted stout.

Can pour from trade with Johnnnniee--thanks, John! It's a deeply hazy dark amber with light sparkle, 3-finger width beige head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong burnt caramel and milder tart fruit (tart apple brittle?), Belgian yeast. Taste is less strong than the aroma and mostly caramel. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with lingering dry yeast. Overall, taste doesn't quite deliver on the aroma. Could be a little fuller. OK.

Can from the source. Dark brown with bits of ruby at the edges, off white head shows moderate retention. Earthy dark honey maltiness with bits of pitted fruit and earthy spice to counter. Pretty nice.

16 oz. can. Aroma of grapefruit, mango, soft malt. Flavor shows melon and tropical fruit but mostly grapefruit. Soft rind like bitterness, maybe a hint of juice texture. Good.
