Cask On, 3/30/24. Clear, amber-copper. Small, smattering of beige bubbles. Hint of oak, light toast and caramel. Not super aromatic, but no off notes. Toasty, very okay, lighter body but not thin. Some semblance of malt with light roast and lingering butter toffee. Good attenuation. Clean.

Bottle pour in a trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is clear pale yellow with nice sparkle, 1/2-finger width foamy head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is citrus (lemon-lime), earthy pine. Taste is strong, slightly astringent, citrus with late bittering and pilsner malt. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft-to-average carbonation and dry, crisp finish with lingering mild bitterness. Overall, the brewer has either inadvertently misclassified this or it's a really bad NEIPA. More like a bitter lager or a weak APA. Don't really know what to say about it.

16oz can from the source. Pours an inky black with a smattering of off white bubbles on the surface. Earthy roasty bready light caramel but lacking much in the way of chocolate or body. Not a bad beer cleanly made but really needs a bit of body and creaminess.

According to the guy at the brewery this beer was designed to be a historical representation of an early American porter brewed with treacle and molasses. 22oz bottle from the source pours a solid clear dark brown color with a smattering of tan bubbles on top. Aroma and flavor are hints of chocolate with lots of rummy bready caramel and a solid hit of earthy hops. High level of carbonation leads to a bubbly mouthfeel and a somewhat medium to thin body. Nothing like the thick viscous American porters these days, but its a very clean, well made and interesting example of a historically made brew.

22oz bottle from the source. Lightly hazy golden color with a good sized frothy bone white head that persists. Earthy pine and citrus on the nose. Light sweet malt in the flavor. The hops from the aroma are present as well as a hint of mint grassy flavor. Solid carbonation light astringency. IPA's like they used to make and pretty tasty too.
