Description
Boquerón Brewing Co, was founded in 2011 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico by Juan Carlos Torres Monllor as the first Nano Brewery on the Island. Los Morrillos Lighthouse (A.K.A. El Faro de Cabo Rojo), a historic lighthouse, was designed and built in 1882 using minimalist architecture and superb craftmanship. To this day, Los Morrillos remains a significant landmark, guiding passing ships through the treacherous Mona Passage which connects the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The craftmanship and significance of this landmark inspired the creation (and logo) of Boquerón Brewing Co, and guides our vison and journey to create the highest quality Caribbean Style craft beer.

12oz can at La Taberna Lupulo in San Juan, pours a murky orange with a cap of white head.  Nose has malt, yeast, corn, light tropicals.  Flavor has flowers, citrus, soggy malt.  Beach drinker.  It's fine.  6 3 6 3 12

12oz can pours a dark orange with a ring of white head. Not especially pleasing to the eye. Nose is a bit old school, pine, malt, orange, some wet paper bag, soap. Flavor is sweet with malt and caramel, big orange rind and big pine. Full bodied, bitter and soapy finish. Lacks nuance but it’s an attempt at craft beer in a desert.

Tap@La Taberna Lupolo, San Juan. Abv 5.70%. Slightly hazy pale yellow color, tiny white head. Aroma has honeyish, sweetish, grainy maltyness. Light-bodied. Grainy, honeyish, malty flavor. Low bitterness. Light citrus. Not very interesting.

Tap@La Taberna Lupolo, San Juan. Hazy yellow-orange color, steady small white head. Pale malty, grainy aroma with hints of fruityness. Light-bodied. Nice lemony hoppyness in the pale malty background. Ok for sessioning although it is a bit sweet and grainy.
