He also wrote the recipe for our steam beer. His demands on quality and taste are still the guideline for our art of brewing. The brewery has been family-owned since it was founded and is now managed by Mark Pfeffer, being the 5th generation. The old brewing craft is maintained by him - because he attaches great importance to the fact that original beers with character are brewed in his brewery.

Karamell. Jó hely lehet ez a Sumave.

Bottle, danke Günther. Cloudy dark yellow, fine carbonation, lacing white head. Light citrus and mineral aroma. Leafy and orangepeel entrance, broad citrus base, light salt, ginger retronasal. Medium to light body, mellow mouthfeel, quick finish. Fresh, unobstrusive, a bit watery - good summerbeer.

Bottle: Pale golden, a bit unclear, small off-white layer; sweetish-grainy nose, delicate sweetish flavour and light bodied, a bit fizzy; very, very faint traces of hops in the sweet-grainy finish, followed by a little fizzy afterburn. Monotonous.....

(bottle) Cloudy, light-amber colour with a huge and stable off-white foamy head. Discreet aroma: yeasty and sweet malty, moderately wheaty nose with cloves and a whiff of citrus and banana. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Malt-accented taste with moderately wheaty and rather restrained fruity accents, accompanied by clovy spices; sweet malty and delicately fruity finish. Drinkable but a tad too sweet. 03.XII.10

Re-rate from bottle: A lot more chewy, caramelly, a hint juicy malt, metallic, lightly oxidized, dry crisp finish. Old rating: 7 3 7 3 12 Bottle, danke Günther! Cloudy golden, offwhite head. Grassy, light yeasty salty notes, citric hops. Orangepeel entry, salt, breadcrumbs. A bit light on the palate, could be chewier, fresh citric finish.

Bottle: Hazy to cloudy, chestnut-amber coloured, small - slowly collapsing - off-white foamy layer; sweet wheaty-caramelly nose, some toasted malt underneath; moderate sweeter than sourish flavour, medium bodied; short sweetish-sourish finish - wheaty aromas included - followed by a light tartness. Not exciting, but well crafted at least.....

Bottle: Golden, unclear, smaller to medium-sized fluffy off-white head; distinctive herbal to grassy hoppy nose, suported by some pale malt; dry bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and a bit tangy; dryish - slightly lingering - hoppy-bitter finish with a delicate sweet pale-malty counterweight. A good beer from the bavarian part of Šumava.......
