Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark body that supports a thin dark tan head. The aroma offers up chocolate malt balls, dark roasted malts, chocolate malts and a thin layer of burnt malts. The taste delivers chocolate malts, some dark roasted maltiness and then thin malt sweetened shards of bunt malts. It picks up a bit of sweet black licorice to sort of a cola sensation from time to time. The chocolate and dark roastiness run from front to back. Pretty nice.

Poured up on tap at the 2015 edition of the AZ Strong Beer Festival where it exhibits a nice clear copper body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma is like malt infused onion and pine and bits of grapefruit rolling toward lighter notes of earthy tea and even more onion dankness to the end of the draw. I’m lovin’ the taste as its spicy onion, earthy tea, grapefruit and tangelo citrus hoppiness. And then to midway it gets into firm levels of dank garlic and onion goodness that’s malt sweetened spicy bitter hoppy yum. This taste great, big and firm with hops and right to style, but not style pushing in this style pushing style. Terrific IIPA.
