(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly nutty nose. Extremely thin and watery with a very high carbonation. The flavour is pretty much just water with added caramel extract. Absolutely no bitterness. But quenching alright... This beer as "... a part of New Zealandβs magic" ?? Come on, thatβs not even funny. 260108

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, deep amber with a tall, dense and handsome, beige head, that leaves some lacework. Aroma of roasted malt. Medium body with roasted malt accents and then and odd gingery tang. A little low in carbonation. Dry, lightly bitter finish. Uninteresting and not really to style. 260108

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy, pale golden with a tall, handsome, dense head that leaves some laces (but is this really supposed to be hazy? BB is 10.08.08, but I wonder if it has been light struck in the green bottle). Anyways, this has the most wonderful flower aroma from the Nelson hops. A little watery in the body with lightly sweet malts that are perfectly balanced from the lovely, floral hop accents. A very pleasant, malty Pilsener with some personality. 260108

(Plastic handbottle from the brewery 130 cl) Clear, deep golden with a dense, off-white head. Lightly sweet caramel aroma. Thin and somewhat watery body with sweet caramel accents and a basically absent head. A classic NZ Draught, but fortunately less sweet. Very drinkable. 260108

(Plastic handbottle from the brewery 130 cl) Clear, pale golden with a tall, dense, white head. Aroma of malt and some flowery hops. A little thin in the body, notes of malt and brewing cereal - perhaps even brewing syrup - but also a whiff of flowers. Lightly hoppy finish. Very quaffable and completely harmless. 260108

(Plastic handbottle from the brewery 130 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a bubbly, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and alcohol. Medium body, roasted - lightly burned - malt accents and a somewhat burning alcohol in the finish. Not really a Dunkler Bock, but way too dark to be your typical Malt Liquor. 260108

(Plastic handbottle from the brewery 130 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear, warm, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Lightly roasted, coffeeish aroma. Medium body with hard roasted, coffeeish malt. Dry, lightly bitter finish. A classic NZ Dark Ale, hence close to a light English Porte - just sweeter. 250108

(On tap) Supposedly "Whole malt". Clear and very pale golden with a small, white head. Sweet aroma of malt with a whiff of butter. Light - almost watery - body with a very soft mouthfeel. Comes with a discreet mouthfeel and a dry, lightly hoppy finish. 240108

(Bottle 64 cl) Courtesy of Diana R. Clear, deep golden with a bubbly, off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Very sweet malt aroma. Fairly light in body with notes of sweet, grainy malt and an almost absent bitterness. Sadly this just reminds me of a plain DB as I remember it from 20 years ago. 220108
