Description
Inspired by norse mythology, 3 ravens tells the story of an unlikely trio: hugin, munin & jack. Hugin and munin were ravens loyal to the god odin who were sent on a quest to find the secret to human happiness. Jack, the third raven was sent by loki to rattle ’em with riddles. The three ravens forming to combine sight, knowledge and creativity to concoct a magic potion is much like our own story: a group of friends—banding together in their thornbury basement—to create unique australian beers.

(Can) Pours hazy golden with modest white head. Great aroma with pine and tropical fruit. Medium body with good carbonation. Taste is hop driven from dank notes at the start through to a good bitter finish. There’s some pleasant fruity notes at the start. There’s no apparent sweetness or maltiness. Great hoppy IPA without being over the top.

(Can) Pours clear golden with decent short-lived loose white head. Pleasant intense aroma of passionfruit soda. Light body with moderate but bright carbonation. Plenty of passionfruit in the flavour, with hints of bready malt and hoppy bitterness appearing towards the finish. Nicely tart with no sweetness. Very refreshing.

(Can) Pours black with a big tan head. Lovely aroma with chocolate at the forefront, plus notes of candy, toffee, berries. Medium body with plenty of carbonation. Taste of chocolate and dark toffee with some strong bitterness - not hoppy, rather black coffee / black treacle. There’s some berry notes too. Unusual and enjoyable beer, perhaps a bit bitter.

Tangerine citrus and guava juice. Some slight bitterness. Hoppy fruit forward. Missing that US water profile

Sometimes supposed conspiracies are fairly easily explained: in this case, the reason that this BAPIOS is only 11.5% ABV rather than the original's 18% must be that they forgot to empty the rye barrel the first time. Can. Black with a near cm of tan head. Spicy and roasty aroma with fudge, some berries, caramel, oak. Now I recall it's peated, there is a little there but I need the prompt. Perhaps surprisingly the whiskey is more prominent than the first version (although this was packaged 11/21) but the spiciness, caramel and oak almost make up for the subdued stout rumble.

Keg at Mr West, Footscray. Styled as a german lager but the colour is a little too brown here and the body a little too clunky. Quite Malt forward but missing the drinkability or flavour of a Dunkel imo.

Can. Black with a dense fat coat of tan head. 3+ Aroma of mocha, hard roasted malt, some nuts, licorice. Silky texture, medium low carbonation. Brooding roast and mocha - big but not shouty flavours. Moves gradually from mocha to roast to slightly spiced bitterness. Lovely weight and balance.

330ml can from Farmers Bar, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a very slightly hazy light yellow colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt and lemon citrus. The flavour is moderate to light bitter and sweet, with a crisp, fresh, slightly watery, lemon lime citrus palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Refreshing and with a little flavour, but very light.

Bottle. Gold with a white head that goes from and inch to nothing in a minute. Aroma of crackers, brusque spicy phenols, oranges, apricot. Dry with a bitter, spicy finish. Lemon pith. An assertive palate cleanser. Won't be for everyone but I liked it.
