Description
Inspired by norse mythology, 3 ravens tells the story of an unlikely trio: hugin, munin & jack. Hugin and munin were ravens loyal to the god odin who were sent on a quest to find the secret to human happiness. Jack, the third raven was sent by loki to rattle ’em with riddles. The three ravens forming to combine sight, knowledge and creativity to concoct a magic potion is much like our own story: a group of friends—banding together in their thornbury basement—to create unique australian beers.

Growler. Amber with a white head that settles to a cm. Aroma of pine, kumquat, hints of little dark spicy berries, light biscuit. Quite light bodied. Dryish and more pine and spice dominated than expected but there's a bit of twangy tropical fruit there too. Finish is pretty bitter and quite dry. There's an emptiness in the middle that lets things down a bit, but this is not bad.

Pours dark brown with a long-lasting, large nitro head.Nose shows enticing caramel, nutty malt, bready and toasty notes.Flavours include sultanas, faint caramel, nutty malt, a faint toasty note and the slightest hint of salt.Body seems a bit lacking with the usual nitro-flatness.

This beer is a huge disappointment. Yes, the nitro worked, but it dissipated at Usain Bolt speed, leaving a dull, flat, thin below brown ale with no saltiness and not much caramel.

this is the newer canned version. Very black. Roast malt nose, pretty much burnt toast. A touch of sweetness, and nice body from oats. Very serviceable.

Drank from can as advised - I guess I can't take points off appearance for that. Aroma is herbal as well as fruity with guava, pineapple, oranges, chewed crackers. Less sweet than expected with a bit of a punch of lime as well as bitterness to keep the tropical notes juicy but under control. Refreshing. Not really my sort of thing but pretty good.

Can. Hazy gold. Guava up front on nose, but a swathe of tropical notes too. Flavour is fruity but with some hoppiness underneath. A bit sweeter than I like, but nicely executed.

From a 375ml can on 30/3/2020. Pours a hazy light golden with small head. The nose is dank and quite tropical. The flavour is sweet and tropical - pineapple, papaya and passionfruit. Finishes with a medium slightly spicy, vinous bitterness, which balances things out quite nicely. The mouthfeel borders on slick, with the carbonation moderate. Quite pleasant drinking.
