Bottle, Londis, Penny Lane, Liverpool. Poured a clearish orange colour with a small white head. Nose was slightly fruity with some yeast presence. Sweetish flavour with some notes of malt, citrus and yeast. Had a vaguely Belgian feel to it but really nothing to write home about. What’s all this guff about best ale over 5% in the UK as well?! & don’t show the bottle to any Riot Grrrls either.

CAN 50 CL. Classified as Golden Ale, Commercial description says „mix between Biere de Garde and IPA”... hey, it is a Belgian Blonde! Medium intensity aroma, typical for Belgian blonde: blonde fruit, spicy yeast, some warm herbal notes and some spicy hops too. The flavour is similar - a light refreshing Belgian blonde - fruit, light spice from the yeast, just a touch of sweetness, leaving the beer mostly dry, moderate herbal bitter finish with notes of fermented hay. Good.

Bottled. Brown colour with a big fluffy slightly off-white head that leaves lace. Aroma is sweet malts, some wooden and resiny notes along with some ripe fruits as well as some spices. Flavour is very similar with also some slight yeast and mild alcohol notes to it. Rather than disturb, the alcohol sweetness actually gives the beer a nice little kick.

Bottled. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, some mild earthy and spicy notes along with mild floral tones. Flavour is very similar with some slight yeasty, mild wooden and also some toasted notes. Quite pleasant, even though it could do with a slight bit more bitterness.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber with a decent head. Nose - grass and pineapple notes. Taste - mountain herbs, lemon pith and booze note. Palate - close to medium bodied with a lean but concentrated middle section and a dry tangy finish. Overall - makes me think a bit Biere de Garde, a bit saison. Kept my interest.
