Bottle at John's in France. Clear orange-golden pour. Aroma is yeasty Belgian and apple juice. Taste is not as hoppy as hoped for. Tastes more like a full bodied lighter Belgian ale. Not bad but nothing special.

33cl bottle: BBD 28th Feb 2016. Poured into a ’Chimay’ chalice on 24th Sep 2014. A present from my son. Looks good, golden, clear, bright and clean, on top a full and deep white foaming head: the head stayed for a while before retreating to a thin wisp and collar. Blind tasting and I would swear this was Belgian such is the yeastiness and feel to both the aroma and taste. Hoppy, yet semi-sweet with a hidden maltiness, mild traces of citrus fruits but not enough to give a lemon or grapefruit flavour, just a mini hint within the taste. Interesting and pleasant, very pleasant.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Hay and summer fruit aromas. Soft with caramel and dough upfront turning to mild summer fruit before the lasting bitter earth finish. Overall, I enjoyed it more than the sum of its parts.

Seasonal made for the well-known flee market of Lille. Thick, sticky, off-white head, colour a misty golden blonde. Typical bière de garde nose, with light citrus, some wild yeast (jute and sour cream), green apple, straw, potato and a hint of peppery hops. Taste begins with a light touch of refreshing sourishness, then rounded pale malts rendering some basic sweetness, lightly spicy yeasty tones, ending in a herbal hoppy bitterishness. Tasty and not badly balanced.
