Founded 1997 by Claude Berri, Gérard Depardieu, Renaud, and Miou-Miou after making the film Germinal in Valenciennes. The brewery was called Brasserie des Amis Réunis, and located in a former slaughterhouse. It became the Brasserie de Saint-Amand-les-Eaux in 2002. In 2005, after a closure due to liquidation, the brewery was taken over by Jean-luc Robert Butez (owner of International Breweries and Beers), and opened again under the name of Brasserie des Sources.

750ml bottle pours a mostly clear yellow with some thin, creamy, white head. Right out of the bottle it had a lot of grass to it, after it descended into some candy sweetness, a little hay, some light banana and yeast. Flavor is mostly sweet, honey, a little root veg, some light straw, a little fruit, but a standard Belgian candy sweetness. Mostly clean finish. No where near a blend of an IPA and anything. Straight up bier de garde.

(Bottle) Hazy pale golden with thin white head. Distinctive, unusual and quite appealing aroma. The aroma is primarily tart with lemony citrus and hints of vinegar, there are subtle notes of bread, funk, spice and maybe exotic fruits. Wonderful palate, soft and mouth-filling. The taste is also rather unusual with elements of different styles. The foretaste has some candy sweetness well balanced with a fruity tang. This gives way to peppery spice, and perhaps a hint f alcohol bite, over a bready maltiness. The peppery spice develops into an impressive rich bitter finish. The mid taste is perhaps a little flat between the more intense foretaste and finish. An impressive and distinctive beer that I would happily drink again.
