Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Unclear yellow color with a average, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate yeasty, sour, light to moderate hoppy lemon, sugar, apple ! Flavor is moderate sweet and light light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is lively.

Bottled. Golden colour, big creamy white head. Sour citrusfruit in aroma along with some alcohol and fruits. Flavour is very much the same along with big earthyness in it also.

Botled. A golden beer with sediment floating around under a white head. The aroma is sweet and very malty combined with notes of alcohol and fruits - especially peaches and oranges. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of dusty hops, peaches, and other fruits. The alcohol leaves a slight burn in the top of the throat.

75cl bottle at Chris Shindig. Gold with lasting white head. Bit of banana ester. Quite a nice aroma, bit of sourness, nice enough and good carbonation. I had a second glass so I must have liked it.

330ml bottle picked up at Utobeer, London. Imported back to Tromsø and enjoyed at home on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Good amount of white, creamy foam over a slightly unclear, orange body. Nice lacing on the glass. Fresh and sweet fruity aroma with suggestions of berries. Plenty of orange sappiness in taste backed by yeasty tartness that prevent the beer from being too sweet. Bittersweet tail. Medium palate (25.02.2007).

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Hazy dirty gold colour under a thick rocky white head. Slightly woody aroma. Some sourness. I think that it may be off. Not sure. Almost has elemens of a lambic. Some nice citrus. Just a bit weird.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Hazy old gold colour with thick white fluffy head. Lemon and wheat aroma. A little bit soapy maybe. A bit like lemon sherbert sweets. Okay, balanced hop on the end. I had it as my first beer on a Friday evening as an apperatif and it was great.

Thanks to Phil_l for this. Bottle, reddy amber, thick beige head. Spice/herb berry, boiled sweet aroma. Bit of yeast and boiled sweet and red berry aroma. Bit of nasty artificiality in mouth.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais .Cloudy deep gold with thick white lasting head. Yeasty, herby hop, bit woody, some citrus. Not exactly a typical amber. Too woody to be nice. Bit thin in flavour. Finish has more woody yeast. 2.4/5.0 Re-rate, I must have had a bad bottle. I think abbatiale are the best of the bieres des gardes i’ve had so far. this is yeasty and a little herby on the aroma over a toffeeish undercurrent. actually really rather tasty, the hoppy herb works well. good in mouth if a little candy sugary and hard. above all it is rather pleasing. some red berry fruit kicking in and the hop has a finishing party piece. better than the average ambree.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Deep amber colour with lasting off white head. Cinnamon dominated aroma with some toffee. Cinnamon and spice are good in mouth but there is still this beer styles tendency towards the boiled sweet candy sugar flavours. Finish has more cinnamon and some hop. I mean I love cinnamon, but this is just a bit empty without it. Nice though, because of the spice.
