About
United Dutch Breweries in Breda was created when the Belgian Interbrew closed the Breda Oranjeboom brewery in 2004, which it had taken over in 1995. Oranjeboom's export department carried out a management buy-out and continued independently with Oranjeboom's brand portfolio, which was acquired from Interbrew. The beers are not brewed anymore in Breda but elsewhere.

0.33 l bottle from 'OnderNulPuntVijf' as '3 Horses Malta', best before April 2023. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity aroma of burnt sugar, bread crust, caramel and traces of raisins. Fairly sweet, malty, minimally fruity taste of caramel, burnt sugar, some bread crust and hints of raisins, followed by a short, sticky sweet, minimally bitter finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Typical Malztrunk, not a bad one.

500ml can from somewhere I'd rather forget. Poured a murky golden colour with a fizzy white head. The aroma is super grainy, toffee, glue and boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet, with a rich, warm, totally dominating boozy alcoholic palate. Medium to full bodied with lively initial carbonation that quickly dissipated. Pretty awful. Glad to have this one out of my fridge. It does my street cred no good at all!

Donker roodbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht bitterzoet met iets van karamel, wat koffie en een beetje chocolade. Best fijn bier.

clear dar golden colour, medium sized creamy, quickly disappearing head; aroma of alcohol, acetone and some dried fruitiness (like some dried apricot soaked into 96% alcohol); taste of malty-syrupy-dried fruity (apricot and maybe pear) sweetness and intensive alcohol; not good at all, but al least can be swallowed...and 0.5 L is definitely much more than ideal to rate it - fortunately my wife sacrificed herself and she volunteered to drink half of the can

clear golden colour, medium sized head, which disappears quickly leaving back only a minimal off-white lacing; aroma of some canned appledried apricot and dried pear notes; taste of a syrupy-alcoholic lager with some fruitiness - 14% ABV...for almost nothing...it's a definite liver killer...(by thhe way, is it adequate to categorize a beer as 'imperial pilsener' with 14% ABV? Would not it be more adequate to consider it as 'malt liqueur'?

clear golden colour, one inch of yellowish white hed, which lasts for quite a few minutes; aroma of apple and dried apricot, as well as alcoholic notes; taste of malty-syrupy, some dried fruity (apricot), apple notes and intensive alcohol; not really good, but at least drinkable despite the high ABV and the fact that it is in the end a lager - and this is a definite disadvantage of it compated to other high ABV lagers...because it is in a half liter can and you have the intention to drink it...

Bottle (Penny Young). Dark brown with a light tan cap. Caramel aroma with some roast, coffee and herbs. Pretty light bodied for >7%. Caramel, some roast, herbal bitterness. OK, but lacks depth, presence and softness - any of those would have been welcome. But it's OK.
