About
The brewery was founded in 1827 under the name Stralsundische Vereinsbrauerei. In 1899 a new multi-storey brewery building was erected at the current site of the brewery. After the reunification in 1991 the brewery was bought by the Nordmann Unternehmensgruppe. In 2010, we began forging a new path. Today we do what we do best: We brew a great variety of top-quality beers, drawing on Hanseatic brewing traditions. To reflect this change, the brewery was renamed Störtebeker Braumanufaktur ('craft brewery') in 2011.

Bottle. Stron coffe roast aroma, fighting hard against the metallic bittering hops. Deep brown, creamy brown head. Nice coffeeish roasted grain up front, nutty and bready middle and bitter counterpoint. Quickbready finish, relatively light body.. Now the roast character of this brew is really nice, if they just could tweak the beer a little bit so that it becomes a bit more harmonic they have a winner.

Botle, Pale golden, foamy white head. Herbal sulphury bitterhop nose, harsh at first more aromatic grassy later. Light hayish body, agreessively herbal bitterhops, light skunk. Lightbodied. A hint of diacetyl in the aftertaste. Tries to be a big north german pils but fails in the details.

Bottle. Old hop aroma. Clear, nice amber colour. Small white head. The flavour has a grassy hoppiness, more like flavour hops than aroma hops. Slightly rough bitterness. 5 3 5 3 12

Rerate, twelve years later. Bottle, 6.5%. Faint caramelly hop aroma. Clear dark golden colour. OK stable white head. The flavour is faintly caramelly like the aroma. Has a little spicy hop note. Clean bitterness. Good mouthfeel. 6 3 6 3 13

Bottle. Quite malty aroma, a little dusty and roasted, but also a bit weak. Very dark brown colour, almost black, red shine. Small unstable, light brown head. The flavour is very roasted and very nice, some coffee, but also sweet and sour. This is Imperial Schwarzbier.

Bottle. Mild, dusty aroma. Very dark brown colour with a little red shine. Big, semi-stable, rocky, light brown head. Very sweet flavour, roasted malts. Liquorice aftertaste. I guess this is what hvidtøl mixed with Schwarzbier would taste like. A bit like some Slovak cernes. Too sweet for me, but not entirely bad.

[Bottled] Hazy yellow, rich head. Estery raspberry aroma. Sweet and soft with lovely yeast induced character. Plenty of band aid. Despite it’s sweetness it remains very refreshing.

(bottle) Dark brown colour with a big and quite firm tanned foamy head. Dusty sweet dark malty nose with toffee. Sweet flavour, light bodied, smooth carbonated mouthfeel. Sugary sweet, slightly roasted malty taste with toffee; sweet malty finish with caramel and notes of coffee in the aftertaste. The back label states that it is brewed with five different types of malt, but also with four different (artificial) sweeteners.

(bottle from Yogi_Beera – Danke !) Cloudy and hazy pale golden colour with a fluffy white foam. Not really amber (Bernstein-)coloured as the name promises. Slightly sweet wheat-malty, banana-fruity and yeasty nose. Sweet and slightlty sour-fruity flavour, light to medium bodied; smooth carbonation for a Hefeweizen. Wheaty banana taste; yeasty and fruity finish with a dense touch of cloves. Decent, smooth and not too spicy Weizen.
