Still sucking on that free hotel shuttle teet. Hyper frothy & lacy, clear, amber goblet pour @Thirsty. Starchy sweet grain, faint phenols, no perceived bite. Boring basic nose. Toasty, bittersweet, Vienna-adjacent, black pepper, weak herbal hops, slight tartness, middling acid, lingering cereal. Not their best.

On tap @Cowtown. Rich, black, oatmeal head. Whiskey, grape, white lighting fruitiness. Boozy, all whiskey & lime. Soft char, almond. Fire. Thin, semi-sweet, warming. Rough but tasty.

Tap @Cowtown. Tulip at the source. Dark, brown almost black, opaque with cola. Soft smoke, gentle toast, honey. Cookie roast, sharp turning tart char, odd citrus, honey, butter, ineffective bitterness, strong. Great.

Pour at the source. Clear, bit dull, gold, frothy. Smell is a mix of pith, hay & fresh veg. Bittersweet, herbal, sweet veg, quite smooth, lingering pith, envelope glue finish. A peg or two above pedestrian bitterness. Very slight funk. Just drying enough to be appetizing. Pretty good.

Short pour at the source. Dark, clear, more black than brown. Slight meat smoke, burnt sugar nose. Meaty, dusty, lingering soot, significant acidity, burnt flour. Okay. Too heavy for a schwarz.

Half pour at the source. Clear, metallic middling gold. Muted roast, sharp wheat. Softly tart, diluted honey, lemon, lots of itchy grain, high acid. Meh.

Half pint at the source. Dark, opaque, cranberry-colored brew. Dusty, yeasty, very slight industrial funk, amateur sour. Slick, lime centric fruit juice, calcium, sweet vinegar, generic box juice. Nah.

On tap @Cowtown. Opaque, still, pale Lipton tea & cranberry body. Lime, cranberry, industrial funk. Tart, yeasty, orange rind, cranberry sharpness, lime. Very amateur.

I had another visit to the brewery, got to sample Stampede. They served it in a tulip glass, it arrived a nice gold-amber with a broad skim of a finely-bubbled, white head. The smell is lemon and pineapple. And the taste is pine cone, pineapple and biscuit. A quite good effort from a small, Texas brewery.
