Reddish brown, slight brownish tan head. A note of sweetness, but it doesn't have much maple involved. Taste is definitely not a full on beer OR maple syrup taste. I think some of the grains do come through more than in the slightly sweeter liquid. Then again, we don't realize how much sap has to be boiled off to get to syrup. Then a little maple finally appears toward the end.

Smell of roasty malt, not much sweetness in the nose. Brownish black from tap pour, things ring of tan bubbles around the edge. Sweetness comes in at the first taste. Just a bit. Matched to malts with a good black roast that offers notes of chocolate and no harshness. Prickly bubbles like a regular beer from tap.

Fine, almost nitro head. Nice fresh and market lager nose, light on roast, Appearance is brown to a nearly stoutlike black. Solid dark lager taste, roasty malt without bitterness. No, take that back: a slightly acrid aftertaste.
