Bottle from the friendly neighbor. Clear golden, small white head. Yeasty, wheaty and malty aroma, weak floral notes. Yeasty flavour, perfumy, rough spice. Rough, dry finish. Not too pleasant and not very refreshing either.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours an opaque black with a creamy and lacing beige head. Roasty nose, lightly smoked. Rich, sweetish body with distinct vanilla notes. The Portwine comes late and is somewhat underwhelming. The vanilla on the other hand is with you all the way. Roasty, bitter finish. 010224

Bottle. It's more or less black in the glass, with a dense, finger-thick light tan head. Some curtains left. The aroma has lots of licorice, vanilla and roasted malts, along with coffee, dark chocolate and a quite vinous touch. That vinous touch is certainly something different than the light alcohol touch from the regular Limfjords Porter, so I guess the port wine did some tricks here. As the beer warms up, the vanilla gets more pronounced, but not hiding any of the other flavors. It's actually the opposite, as both dark dried fruit, caramel or brown sugar and a generic spiced (in a rum-like way) touch show up too. It's full-bodied, warming and semi-sweet, perhaps a bit hard on the carbonation. Roasted malts, vinous or a boozy notes, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla notes, prunes, brown sugar and medium browned fudge in the flavor. Feels a bit less complex than the aroma, but still very nice. Lasting vinous and sweet finish with vanilla, dark chocolate, some coffee and licorice. A delicious Holiday beer indeed. Perhaps a bit sweet, but it works just fine. Pity the flavor isn't as top notch as the aroma, even though the flavor too is very fine. 240124

slightly sweet and flowery like a tripel, but the american hops are clearly there, adding a decent amount of pine and grapefruit. There is also a citrussy note. Flavor is dominated by the bitter hops, which seem quite blended, and has a bitterness that almost leads me to think of the strong english bitter beer type. But lots of american notes too. the flowery notes from the aroma are gone, but the malty base seems still to be very solid for an ipa. The quite bitter profile makes the beer very easy drinking, very tasty and a great alternative match to the christmas setting, it is not dry and bitter, it is christmassy and bitter, sort of. more like a Belgian IPA, but better. Near exactly how I would like a christmas IPA to be. Will to super well as a diversion for the typical vienna like spiced christmas beers, but will still do great with all the sweets and cheeses etc.
