Pours dark brown with a large, growing creamy head.Nose shows raisins, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Pretty much hot cross buns spot on. Underneath is some rich sweet malt. Spices are a little overbearing.Similar rich sweet flavours, with more raisins and spices, but some chocolate and booze also shows through.Carbonation is somewhat high, drying out the finish.

[moving a 2/11 rerate of the organic version now this has its own entry] Non-organic hops version, 4.9%ABV. Pale gold with an inch of white head. Low bead. Honeysuckle, lychee, blackcurrant, grass and grain aroma. Taste has mild grainy sweetness with lots of berries (blackcurrant, gooseberry) that also have some tartness. A little oily, Seems fuller on the malt side than previous [organic] version. Nice bitter finish with some lemon peel and spice. Good, but lacks the austere intensity of the old version.

Pours dark amber with a small head.Loads of sweet malt and oats on the nose, along with soft hints of spiced orange marmalades, golden syrup, pancakes and maple syrup.Similarly sweet flavours, more oatmeal, pancakes and golden syrup. Unfortunately thereβs a fair whack of alcohol in the finish.Very soft carbonation could be higher, body could be thicker and more syrupy.

From a 500ml bottle on 8/4/2011. Pours a dark golden orange colour with a decent head. Has a pleasant aroma of sweet caramel malt and brown sugar. The flavour is pretty much the same, with some toffee and marmalade thrown in. The malty sweetness is quite pronounced, but it has enough hops at the end to balance things out nicely. The palate is quite creamy. All up, this a very enjoyable, well put together ale.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt as well as a light note of hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a light touch of straw.

Pours black with a small fading light tan head.Nose shows enticing dark chocolate, toffee, caramel and roasted malt. Nice stuff!Very similar flavours but more of an emphasis on the roasted malt. Very mild finish with a soft roasty bitterness.Carbonation is a little high really, body a little watery. Could use some extra malt.

Pours brown with a massive, growing off-white head.Nose shows soft chocolate, doughy wheat, bananas, subtle spicy hops and cloves.More chocolate and wheat as flavours alongside a little booze. These initial flavours quickly disappear however.Carbonation is much too high.

From a 500ml bottle on 17/1/2011. Has a distinct floral, perfumey, malty, fruity aroma. Flavours are fruit, honey and sweet malt, with some wine like notes. Has along finish with a slightly sour bitterness. Has quite a light body. Has masses of character for a beer that only 3.7%. A very good bitter.

Pours dark amber with a small head.Nose shows spicy, herbaceous and floral hops in abundance. Underneath is plenty of sweet malt with toffee characters.Similar flavours although the hops fade a little, revealing nutty, toasty malt, along with the aforementioned toffee.Good moderate carbonation works well, although the body seems a bit watery.

From a 500ml bottle on 6/12/2010. Has a strong and pleasant aroma of caramel and fruit, floral and piney hops. In the mouth you get caramel, toffee, citrus fruit (oranges) and a touch of grapefruit. Has a solid hop kick, though itβs only medium in comparison to heavy hitting IPAs. But this one is all about balance and drinkability. Excellent.
