Inky black brew , no carbonation ... aroma of dried raisins & marmite ... taste of dried fruits , intensely chocolatey & a funky hint of wet cardboard .. $ 12 nip glass in Crafty Trout taproom upstairs ... reckon it's no where near 32 % alcohol , not boozy at all , an old anglers tale perhaps .

Bottle from the brewery brought down south and shared at Greymouth Kiwi holiday park. Slight hazy light amber with almost no head. Caramel, bready, light yeast, plums, soft herbs, light red berries, sweet grains. Medium sweet, under medium bitter and light tart. Medium bodied. OK.

Bottle from the brewery. Clear golden with white head. Crisp malts, light melon, soft bready, really nice clean malts, light grassy but mostly soft subtle fruity hops (kiwi, soft white grape). A soft touch of paper and metal. Just medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied. Better than I expected.

Bottle from the brewery drank at Whakapapa holiday camp with view of mount Doom (if it wasn’t crazy dark). Clear amber with small off white head. Caramel, light grapes, bready, raw cocoa, dried apricot, quite some fruit skins, grassy hops. Medium sweet and also medium bitter in a fruit skin kind of way. Medium bodied with a bit oily feel. I didn’t expect much, but this is quite alright.

Bottle from the store in front of the brewery. Doesn’t look at all like the other reviews mention, is murky amber, with a few seconds of fizz. Sweet apple, apple peel, cinnamon, light caramel, sweet pears too. Quite juicy, soft alcohol. They say to serve this at 3 degrees Celsius... Medium sweet, light tart and very light bitter. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Doesn’t look like much (looks like an oxidized mess) but otherwise this is quite alright.

Draft at the source. Hazy golden yellow color, small white edge head. Aroma of Christmas spice, maybe nutmeg and ginger. Taste is tart apple, light spice, subtle pineapple. Very tasty. No significant detectable hops, so a far cry from the Good George dry hopped cider, but decent in its own right. Would work warmed I think.

Draft at the source. Clear golden yellow color, champagne bubbles. Aroma of apple flesh. Taste is bittersweet apple skins. Not bad. Might be an alias of the Good George cider.
