Description
Founded by brothers, Ken and Matt Praay, Monument City Brewing was born while on a transformative hike along the Appalachian Trail. The two brothers, already homebrewers, traded stories about their favorite craft beers and beers they had created. Upon their return, they set out to create a family owned brewery making world class craft beer for their community.

Today, Monument City Brewing produces some of the finest ales and lagers Maryland has to offer.

12 ounce can thanks to hershiser2! 1/11/20. This is scaring me a little. Black, pours inky black and kinda like motor oil. Thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, coffee, roast. Taste is coffee, roast, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, hints of smoke. Medium bodied, low bitterness. Too sweet but not cloying (though the aroma is a bit cloying). It's good otherwise.

Crisp golden coloured body with a thinnish pure white head that starts at about a centimetre tall at first and fades fast to just about nothing, a few seconds later. Aroma of lemons, brine and a dash of very subdued wheat and yeast - but fairly mild throughout. Light-bodied; Sharp lemon and lime flavours at first with a small amount of syrupy sweetness, then showing a nice salt and brine component which couples well with the sweetness and ends with a more of the tart fruit and citrus flavours - very nice and super easy-to-drink. Aftertaste shows a good deal of salt and brine with a softer malt component, a little floral and grassy note, but this really is about the juxtaposition of the salt, sweetness and tart flavours. Overall, a very nice gose that shows well and is very easy to drink, but has a lot of flavours throughout and a good salt component. Perfect for after a run! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Total Wine in Towson, Maryland on 27-May-2019 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 25-August-2019.
