Description
Champion brewing company is Virginia's most progressive brewery, producing a wide variety of ales in two locations: our downtown Charlottesville tap room and our Belmont production facility. Our production brewery known as the 'missile factory' produces our core and seasonal beers on a 30-barrel brewhouse, at a current operating capacity of 15,000 barrels per year. Our original tap room produces constantly changing and innovative seasonals, one-offs, and barrel-aged wild beers.

Nice slightly hazy golden coloured body with a large, four centimetre tall soapy white head that fades relatively quickly, along with a somewhat muted cloudly glow. Aroma of grassy and very dry hop notes with some honey, a touch of citrus, light pine, a dose of flowers and even a touch of apricot and fruit notes near the end - very nice, considering the ABV. Light-bodied; Grassy and very dry flavours at first with some apples, pears, apricots and hay all noticeable along with a mellow-ish hop bite, some subdued sweetness from honey and ending with a pleasant balance, but still very light on the scale. Aftertaste is dry and slightly bittering from the hops and malt, with a good dose of grain and dry notes near the end. Overall, a good and well-balanced beer for the style with a lot of dry notes and character showing through, despite the very low ABV, and this is easy-to-drink, minus the bitterness from the hops, but that is exactly the point of this Light IPA style. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Fairfax, Virginia on 10-September-2017 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 26-October-2017.

Can from Wine Warehouse. Pours clear gold with a smallish white head. Aroma of cat piss and pine, citrus as well. Flavor is agave, perhaps too much, resin, pine. Sticky, overdone, in my opinion.

Can 355ml (Beer Republic, BB 11/21/201?)
Opaque colour, medium-sized beige head, some lace. Chocolate and coffee in the nose but also light earthy sensation. Medium-bodied. Chocolaty, roasted but soft. Even a bit milky. Cocoa powder, coffee and ash in the finish. Decent.

Can 355ml (Beer Republic, canned 06/xx/2017)
Clear golden colour, small white head. Light sweetish wheaty aroma with hints of honey. Light-bodied. Pale malty, sweetish wheaty with some banana and pineapple. Clean but boring. This may work with some food.
