Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is sweetish toasted malt with a hint of roast, caramel, dark bread, grain, notes of toffee and a little dried fruit. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light to moderate bitter. Body is medium. Tasty and well-brewed within the style.

Bottle. Clear light brown color with small head, lacing a bit. Aroma is earthy, nutty, breadcrust, malty. Taste is bready, earthy, mineral. A bit watery mouthfeel, medium/low carbonation, also some decent bitterness in the end. Ok beer, but a bit boring.

Pours deep golden to the lightest orange, the lightest bit of haziness, a bit more on final pour. Classic huge weizen head, perhaps a little lower than usual; recedes relatively quick though and leaves ltitle lacing. Average intensity in the aroma: strong esters with banana and lemony notes, bubblegum, a light tart/sour suggestion; not showing much depth. Taste notes show a very light dough-like base followed by lemon and banana, bubblegum, a hint of spiciness (clove). Doesn't feel too sweetly chewy like some other weizens but sadly feels somehow 'empty'. Overall obviously sweet, about average per style, and also quite tart for the style as the smell suggested, maybe a bit too much. Light bodied with medium to high carbonation, perhaps a tad lighter than style average in both body and carbonation; highly drinkable, perhaps a little empty/watery. Meh... maybe an unlucky bottle.
