Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! Country #159! Grainy metallic nose. The beer itself starts malty-metallic. Easy to drink, not too deep and a bit stale metallic. Hints of grain, smooth, malty with a grainy malty aftertaste with minimal bitterness. Not too bad.

Green big bottle. Pours clear pale golden colour with a mid-sized most good lasting white head. Aroma of grainy pale malt, cereals, mild metallic hops. Taste of grainy pale malt, cereals, very mild hops, watery, very easy to drink!

Bottle (대동강맥주 2, 620 ml) from Potonggang Department Store, Pyongyang. - The name "black label“ is a bit misleading - the label is actually the same as the Taedonggang "green label“’s, the only difference being the small circle with the „2“ which has a black background, not a green one as it is the case with the other beer. - Deep golden, nearly amber, good head. Aroma of caramel, biscuits and some rough hops which remind me of some cheap German supermarket Pilsener. Taste is a bit empty, with pronounced residual sweetness and blunt hops with notes of wet leaves. Medium carbonation, slightly salty mouthfeel. Rather sweet aftertaste with rough bitterness but without nice hop aromas.

Flasche (대동강맥주 2, 640 ml) aus dem Pyongyang Shop, Pyongyang. - Tiefes Goldgelb, klar, standfeste üppige Schaumkrone. - In der Nase spüre ich - zum ersten Mal bei einem nordkoreanischen Bier - tatsächlich nicht zu wenig Hopfen, wenn auch von der billigsten Bitterhopfen-Sorte, schroff und stumpf. - Antrunk etwas dünn und gut hopfenherb aber ohne feinere Aromen, nur Laub und Unkraut. Nur schwach getreidig, etwas leerer Körper (vielleicht vom Reis: der Reisanteil beträgt laut Etikett 30 %). Durchschnittlich rezent, schlank; schwach salziger Eindruck. Im Abgang nicht zu knappe aber rauhe, stumpfe Hopfenbittere und schwach metallische Fehlaromen. - Um Klassen besser als die älteren nordkoreanischen Bieren (Ryongsong, Ponghak), aber im internationalen Vergleich nur untere Mittelklasse. Durchaus trinkbar.

Bottle. (huge thanks to Björn who bought this one in North Korea) Clear golden with a medium white head. Fairly sweet with malt, some notes of cardboard and pepper. Light body with a short aftertaste. Boring but drinkable.

(Bottle, 0.64 l, 20121208) Thanks Petri for bringing me this bottle. The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had rubber, rice, starch and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were rice, sweetness, malts and low bitterness. Aftertaste didn’t last long and was sweet. A bad example of beer.

Bottle shared at my house. Pours pale yellow. Dear leader says the nose/taste is barley, corn chips and grain. Clean finish. Medium body. Much better than expected. I’m not sure if that’s a compliment to North Korean brewers or proof at just how bad most macro swill is.

500ml bottle-@Tampa weekly shared by SHIG-pours a white head with yellow/gold color. Aroma is lemon/grass, euroskunk (lager), hay/light malt. Taste is lemon/grass hops, hay/light malt. Wow, from North Korea a quite drinkable beer.
