Description
Neptune Brewery has been brewing modern beers, inspired by tradition, since 2015. We’re a small but mighty team and proudly independent. Our beers are naturally conditioned and all the “uns” - that’s unfiltered, unpasteurised and unfined - ensuring the greatest flavour in each brew. It also means our beers are vegan friendly as we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy them.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours “bitter brown” with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. The aroma has floral hops, smoke and autumn fruits. In the mouth it is quite bitter with a creamy texture and a little underlying sweetness. Hops are the main flavour alongside stone fruit and pine. There’s also some citrus at first, but this declines as hints of chestnuts and spice come through. Bitterness lasts into the slightly dry finish. This is quite decent.

The beer is named after the fastest known shark, at around 45 mph. An easy textured juicy fruity cask pour, my sip rate is about once per two minutes, so I'm not match for it, but these are favourable clear golden coloured waters I'd be happy to swim in again.

Cask at Wellington, Brum. Dark and glossy. Head flees leaving a beige crescent clinging to half of the glass. Aroma has a coffee tang with light tar molasses. Flavourwise it has an initial tangyness. Underlying bitterness before developing molasses sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Stick carbonation. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Decent enough.

Neptune was visible in a planet parade this week. I saw and had this brew, a hazy golden single hop beer, and it is hoppy-first. There's hints of tropical or exotic fruit behind this, but what is found is quite light.

Cask, half pint. @"Liverpool Camra Beer Fest", Liverpool (England) 21/02/2026
[#8.946 Global - #1.226 England - #1 Neptune Brewery (My English Brewery #386)]
Labelled as "Baltia", but I guess it´s the same beer. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma: coffeish malts, milk chocolate and burnt brown sugar. Taste: brown sugary malts and light coffee beans. Dry mouthfeel.
Next one, please!

Handpull cask at the Bath Hotel, Sheffield. Dark reddish gold, mostly clear with a small beige/khaki head. I can smell the sweet spiciness of the rye, lightly fruity with loads of gooey honey. Sweet taste, very honeyed with notes of caramel and sweet cooking spices. Bitterness on the downturn with a notably bitter finish. Its like two different beers. The body is light with very low carbonation. Nice.

Hard to resist ordering this one. Black coloured very crisp ale, and quite smooth in texture. This is basically its initial blast, but the nut and maple grows in its aftertaste, albeit never reaching any stated levels. It's good though.
