very minty. Super minty. Tons of peppermint. It overwhelms but I don’t hate it. Don’t love it, but don’t hate it

Tap at Keyaki Spring 2018. Nose is grapefruit zest, mint, wintergreen, peppermint. Golden orange with a light haze. Strangely minty--thought it was just from the hops, but no, they did add mint! Now I get it. A bit overdone with the mint but nice and summery.

Oh la ho’s newest Raider release is an IPA and a craft cheapie available at Seijo Ishii for 325¥ or so. Cracking open the can it didn’t smell so great but in a glass this golden brew has a nice middle of the road hop bouquet. The taste is bitter herbal pine sap, too bitter and over the top. It’s ok but Captain Crow is better and so have been many others in this series. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Caramel, grass, resiny pine in the nose. Rather sweet and also bitter, very old school and not particularly good at it either. Very disappointing from the makers of Thrash Lager. Not up to their standard.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Stas. Clear golden, white head. Citric and floral hops, bready malt, sweetish, bitter finish, light to medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle as "Cuvee Duke Barrel Aged Barleywine". Pours dirty orange, relatively clear pour actually. No foam to speak about. Apple juice syrup nose, sweet and boozy. Clear alcohol bite in the nose. Sugary apple candies. Tastes like watered down calvados, boozy, apples and some light bitterness in the finish. Barrel is there, boozy but well, very unusual and I am not sure I really like it. Slick mouthfeel.
