500ml bottle. Opalescent, orange golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally strawy, pale malty and slightly floral, hoppy aroma. Taste is floral and slightly herbal-leafy hoppy, slightly spicy, pale malty basis with subtle residual sweetness, hints of thistle and nettle, a touch of grape sugar. Slightly oily, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Clean, balanced, drinkable - very nice. [Of course Helles Alt is not a Kölsch. This comment is not reflecting the Cologne-Düsseldorf enmity; Helles Alt rather belongs to the (Westphalian) Münsterland Area, but has become a very rare traditional style nowadays.]
