Buddel: Deep chestnut-amber coloured, hazy, small persistent tanned head; dry nose, mainly of roasted malt and coffee powder, chocolatey traces underneath, citric to herbal-grassy background; moderate dry bitter flavour with a smaller residual sweetness, light to medium bodied, quite soft; dry and lingering roasty-fruity finish with molecular traces of coffee grounds. Nothing wrong with it...

(bottle, 33cl, Prototype#1, 5.6% abv) Dark brown to black colour with a beige and firm foamy head. Distinctive aroma of freshly ground coffee beans on roasted malt with earthy, leafy notes, as well as subtle fruity hints. Moderately bitter, delicately sweet and slightly tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Dry roast-malty taste with loads of coffee, dark chocolate; roasty bitter and slightly tart finish. A little bit harsh and imbalanced. 06.XI.17

„Coffee Pirate Porter", Flasche (33 cl) aus dem Braukontor Potsdam. - Tiefes Schwarzbraun, kaum Schaum.

0.33 l bottle from ’Vormann Brauerei’, best before December 2017. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, some licorice and hints of dark fruits. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, lots of coffee and traces of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The best of the three versions I’ve had in my opinion. Didn’t dig the chili version, but the coffee adds some earthiness and complexity to the regular one.
