Description
Adam and Grace Robbings opened Reuben’s Brews in 2012, after Adam’s award-winning homebrewing career, naming the brewery after their first child, Reuben.

The original brewery and tasting room in Ballard closed to the public in 2015 when our Taproom opened, but we still brew pilot batches here every week on our 5bbl system. Our Taproom features a brewery right in the middle of the tasting room, where we brew batches of beer that you’ll taste in both here, at The Brewtap, and in distribution. Our system here is 15bbl. In 2019 a new production brewery opened. This is where we brew the majority of the beers you see in cans and bottles on our 30bbl brewhouse, it is also home to The Brewtap, our second tasting room.

At our family brewery we brew from the glass backwards: designing each beer with intention, unbound by constraints. We know making that extra effort is worth it. From your everyday favorites beers to our innovative new releases, we help you grow your love of beer.

Waxed capped 500 from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate and maple. Full bodied. Flavor is the aroma, but those flavors are dominated by what seems to be cherry and oak. Far from dry. Heat is moderate. Malt, bourbon and wood astringency seem to stave off the malt. The flavor is very very good.

Waxed, capped bomber from Tavour. Pours sort of dark brown with a very slight head. Aroma of brandy and a somewhat caramel malt. Full bodied. Very malty. Almost like there's kandi in terms of sweet. Definitely brandy and some oak astringency. So much going on that I didn't notice the rye quickly. Dark fruit lurks beneath other flavors. A bit over sugary for me, but really good stuff. Somehow it strongly reminds me more of calvados than brandy.

Amber and opaque. No head. Sticky sugars, toffee, dee fruitness. On the palate it’s burly, strong, lots of sweet sugars, a bit of bourbony vanilla. Good complexity to it.

22oz @ SF shared with almost full gang (missing two biggest guys only).
Aroma: something weirdly harsh, like a lot of wood? Earthy, some sweetness, a bit of dark fruits and glue.
Taste: along the same lines, very woody, harsh, intense, Three Ryes is definitely dominating.
Overall: harsh, but interesting.

Medium, lots of bourbon on the nose, with a bit of fruitiness. This has a good blend - some toasty stout notes but then some fruity barley wine, lots of vanilla from the barrel, and there's a bit of alcohol in the finish. The full body, big sugars on the body, with barley wine influence. Some toasty notes, with some rye in there as well.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma is full of intense bourbon, deep wood, roasted malt, and some toasted caramel. Flavour is massively dominated by woody bourbon, medium roast, some booze, and buried sugars. Woody, bourbon, boozy finish. Integrated and complex. Excellent.
