And here I come to the rating number 200! In front of me I have Christmas Ale from the brewery that surprised me very pleasantly with their dubbel and tripel. BB date Sep 14, 2007, so it’s also kind of aged :)
So, it was a 0.25 bottle which poured dark, almost black body with medium creamy brown head. Sweet dark fruits from malts in aroma, specially raspberries and cranberries. Flavor is quite nice fruity, but quite light bodied, although creamy on palate. Nice finish though, sweetish with berry fruits. Alcohol is not felt at all here and carbonation is, contrary to the other beers from this brewery I’ve tried, very low. Surely a good beer, although I’ve expected more, which it would probably be with some more body.

0.33 l bottle which poured dark brown-reddish body with big brown head. Aroma of some slightly sourish fruits, but of course also malty, mostly in the sense of caramel. Flavor is even better, bit sweet with caramel and chocolate enriched fruitiness. Finish is quite short, but as nice as the whole beer, more or less reflecting the flavor. Great beer indeed.

0.33 l bottle. Poured thick white long living creamy head over murky yellow body. Very nice fruity aroma dominated by banana and cloves, with some citrus notes. Flavor typical tripel bittersweet, inclining to sweet. Quite fruity and spicy, pretty much following the aroma. Light bodied for the style though... Quite carbonated, with nice, long finish, which is pleasantly fruity sweetish. Quite good tripel and very good beer.

Bottle at home ... Deep red/brown ...yeasty and little raisin nose... fruity malty, some yeast and dark fruit quite sweet little chocolate... bit overy fizzy but good mouth feel

Draught @ DTE, Copenhagen. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Sweet malty spicy aroma with some yeasty hints. Spicy malty flavor with some hints of yeast and dark fruit. Sweet malty finish with hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

I’m not good enough for this beer. I hesitate to rate it. On tap at the Vintage Estates, thanks Nuts. Very nice aroma, perhaps some alky strong intent on the olfactory.Slightly dark, but certainly not dark brown or black. Some haze is present. Nice lacing. Strongish wine or whisky flavors. Mild carbonation tickles the middle of the tongue.. Alky flavors not well hidden in this belgie brew, they intensify during the session. Odd spicey sensations trace each sip. Finish is whisky laced beer. Does not do homage to their abbey brown.

330ml bottle served chilled in a tulip glass at Le Mirage, Tromsø. Clear, mahogany body topped by a creamy, off-white head with good retention and glass-lacing - very nice to look at! Mild cocoa to the nose with notes of roastiness. Taste of dark fruits and, when it warms, there is also moderate sweetness of caramel-covered malts added some spicy (cinnamon) notes in the aftertaste. Smooth palate (02.11.2007).

Brown with a big off-white head. Deep malty aroma, with dried fruits and brown sugar. Sweet flavour, much dried fruit, malt, some port.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge white head, the bottle was gushing. Aroma is spiced caramel malty, quite nice and inviting. There is a minor orange note too. Creamy carbonated mouthfeel. Flavour is soft caramale malty with light spice note mixed inbetween. There is a slight orange egde to the flavour. Finish is softly spiced coriander with a light malty note. Lovely classic mellow triple.

While it’s classified as an abbey tripel, it shares a lot with what the label says, which is a pale ale. It is pretty mild, but has a wonderful kick to it in the hop department. It is pretty creamy, with a nice yeast, and citrus flavor to it. A little sweet, with a slight spice flavor to boot. I am quite impressed with this beer and the fact that the alcohol was masked quite well.
