Description

330ml bottle at the Lagom Cafe, Ho Chi Minh City. Poured a clear golden blonde colour with a lasting frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is light Belgian yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a somewhat rich, crisp, yeasty, light toffee, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle at home. Dark amber color, medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, a distant odd nore of artificial cherry or candy. Flavor has it too, also far in the distance but still, a slight sweetness, okay bitters as well. Ph well, drinkable. Fizzy carbonation though.

Bottle at Hops, Crewe. Pours a lively, frothy golden amber, before settling down to a medium sized foamy almost white head and good lacing. There’s a flowery nose with Belgian yeast and hints of spice. In the mouth it has characteristics of sweet, sharp and bitter, but the sweetness does win out eventually. There are many layers to the flavour, malts, yeast, pine, grains, spice and coriander with even a little banana coming through after a while. Finish is dry with a little sweetness. This isn’t in the top rank of tripels but it’s still rather nice.
