(bottle, 33cl, 8.2% abv) Slightly hazy, brown colour with a ruby shine and a giant tanned foamy head. Yeasty, roasty malty aroma with fruity accents of dark berries and prunes, accompanied by notes chocolate and leather. Moderately sweet and roasty bitter flavour, almost full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roasty malty taste with chocolate, liquorice and now calmer fruity notes; roasty bitter and chocolatey finish with delicately fruity notes. The fruit-character is too obvious imo. 31.X.10

Bouteille 330ml.

18/10/2010 - 33cl bottle @ home

Pours a cloudy deep orange to hazel coloured beer, creamy rocky head (adhesive). Aroma of pineapple, passion fruits and citrus. Some sugar. Taste is very fruity, some alcohol warmth, spices. MF has enough carbon, full body. Aftertaste holds bitter hops but still very fruity. Ends dry with some citrus and gingerbread.

Wow, I understand why this has won the people's prize at ZBF! Very nice brew!

Bottle: Poured a dirty beige color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly spicy yeast with notes of medium sweet malt backbone is interesting. Taste is a good mix between some spicy yeast with notes of bready Belgian malt with a well balanced level of sweetness. Body is quite full with low level of filtration and great carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Nothing extraordinary but well brewed nonetheless.

Very high fluffy head over orange-copper beer. Malty nose, but with a good relief from some fresh hops. Bit of orange peel, grass. Dry-bitterish/hoppy and toasted taste, perfectly balanced - like a draught amber Bolleke from yesteryear. Medium bodied, quite slick. Superb! Has a good chance to be the top "Spéciale Belge" currently on offer. I’m going to have to drink more in Ursel! Dank U, Ludwig!!
