Description
Since 1870 our family, the Meens family, has been brewing its Alfa beers in the traditional way. Alfa Bier's brewing process is still the traditional brewing process. The recipe, the method of brewing and the raw materials have consciously never changed, because we do not compromise on the quality of our beer. Alfa is the only brewery in the Netherlands to have 100% pure spring water from an officially recognized source. That water from our own source determines the special, pure and full taste of our Alfa Beers.

33cl bottle from the leiden beer shop. Light beige head. Clear amber pour. A little too sweet for my taste.

Backlog. As Super Dortmunder. Sweet malty nose, bit caramel, bread, butter, some citrus, grassy hops, herbs, clear deep golden, rocky white head, good lacing, sweetbitter taste, soft carbonation, thick texture, feels medium bodied because you don’t taste the high alcohol, average carbonation, smooth bittersweet finish, very well-balanced beer.

Decent pilsner with a nice foamy head. Mildly bitter and hoppy, with a slightly grassy note.

Very sweet bockbeer. Typical roasted malt and notes of liquorice. I don’t really like it.

Small amberish-tinted head, irregular, over cold-hazed copperish golden beer. Caramel, warm grains, parsley, malt- or cornsyrup, cornflakes, alternative healthfood (seeds...) Parsley returning in the flavour with more caramel, but not too sweet. Faint mild malts, slightly coloured ones. CO² as only acidity, yet some balance. Hops can be suspected. Cookie dough. Quite carbonated, light body, watery. Average at best.

Clear pale golden colour, good frothy white head, good retention and lacing.
Hoppy nose with a touch of lemon, pilsner malt, grain. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, hops. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, sweetbitter finish, a clean pilsner.
