Description
Since 1870 our family, the Meens family, has been brewing its Alfa beers in the traditional way. Alfa Bier's brewing process is still the traditional brewing process. The recipe, the method of brewing and the raw materials have consciously never changed, because we do not compromise on the quality of our beer. Alfa is the only brewery in the Netherlands to have 100% pure spring water from an officially recognized source. That water from our own source determines the special, pure and full taste of our Alfa Beers.

Bottle: Malty, raisinny aroma. Sweet, malty taste with caramel, raisin and mango. Slight alcohol burn. Not bad, straightforward beer, a little too sweet. Tap, Café de Engel Oldenzaal. This beer normally isn’t available on tap, but it should be because it suits the beer well. A bit of malty sweetness. Very malty in fact. Full bodied. Some hopbitterness that coïncides well with the malt and adds some extra depth. 6 3 8 4 13 = 3.4. The above rating is for the bottled version, because that is the normally available version.

Slight aroma of fresh hops, bit of hay. Neutral taste with orange and apple. Refreshing, just a bit bland pilsener.

Malty aroma with peach and caramel. Sweetish taste with caramel, apple and licorice. The flavor is good, but I miss character in this beer. It goes down well without making an impression.

Sweet flavor with brown sugar and caramel. Fresh, with just a hint of sourness. Has more bite and body than most other oud bruin beers.

Hoppy, bit soapy aroma. Just a bit hoppy flavor with an underlying orange fruitiness. Maybe a bit sticky. One of the better supermarket brands available.

Bottle, found in a local Mitra. Blonde. Malt and soft hops in the aroma. Butter cookies. malty sweet flavor, again with butter cookies. Hint of toffee. Sticky mouthfeel. Tastes like a sweet version of a Bavarian märzen. Maybe too sweet, but certainly likeable.

Van de tap in de Bierfabriek (Nes, Amsterdam), tijdens uitje van werk. Fris pils, had wat bitterder gemogen. Voor een pils prima uiterlijk.
