Top-fermented Doppelbock (which actually means ’strong ale’ apparently?) from the only brewery of the Waddeneilanden, with a creamy, yellowish white head and deep bronze colour, clear. Aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, pine resin, iron, kahlua, raisins, banana, gingerbread; smooth candied fruits in the mouth, candi syrup, caramel malts in the background, chocolatey malts too, something metallic, long and hop bitterish finish with some liqueurish, warming alcohol. Not bad and fairly true to its style - if you consider this a top-fermented Dutch Bockbier, that is.

Bottle. Murky amber colour, white foam. Aroma of caramel and light roasted malts. Reminds me a bit of a speciale belge. Decent.

Deep dark clear amber color with a nice off white head. Looks very good. Fine fruity and toffee aroma. Medium + body. Fine tad balanced sweetness. Smooth fine carbonation. Bready, fruity, toffee and mild spicy flavor. This is a really balanced double. No crazy stuff, still very tasty and nice.

330 mml Bottle tasted on 16/08/2014. Hazy orange amber colour with a decent head. Aroma is malty, caramel and dark fruits. Taste is sweet in the beginning with caramel, fruits and yeast. Carbonation is medium to low and aftertaste is sweet too but less than in the beginning. Next one please!

Almost clear amber color with a small off white layer. Color is ok, but not any nice head. Fruity and vinous aroma. Quite ok. Thick fine body, but way to low carbonation. Also a miss balance between sweetness and bitterness. To sweet. Not any sticky alcohol notes. Sherry like flavor. Very fruity, some caramel and some yeast. The low carbonation destroyed this beer. Could have been nice.

300ml draught at CafΓ© De Kletskop in Amsterdam. Lasting, creamy, white head to a hazy apricot coloured body. Sweet and mid-dry aroma of wheaty fruits. Succulent taste of orange, mid-sweet banana and brown malts. Wheat and fruit to the ending. Medium bodied. Foamy in the mouth. Nice, sweet fruity thirst quencher (20.07.2014).

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy deep amber color with medium frothy off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, dried fruits and grassy hops. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel malt, follows by yeasty and fruity acidity, mild spicy mouthfeel and light bitter finish. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Not a stand out, but it’s pretty palatable...
