Description
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Carrot and orange aroma. Malty orange flavor. Just a bit of hops and dustiness. Cardboard. Rather skunky.

Plum and ckae dough aroma. Medium bodied. Bitter flavor, maybe a bit buttery. Plum and apple fruit. Clean palate. Just a bit of hops in the nutty bitter aftertaste. Fairly rich märzenbier. Just around the average, but still a decent brew.

Orange brown color, cloudy. caramel and a touch of licorice in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor with licorice and some peach. Thin and a bit watery. Nice and tasty, but unconvincing. Thanks Pivnizub, for this bottle!

Amber color. Malty, bready aroma with even a hint of smoke. Very light roasted malt flavor with cake dough and a touch of peach. Friendly, but not outstanding in any way. Definitely not a pilsener, more like a märzen type. Die Mannschaft will not become world champion on this beer!

Golden color, not surprisingly. Flowers and flour in the aroma. Malty, powdery and somewhat medecinal flavor with a touch of hops. Medium bodied. Lingering nutty bitter aftertaste. OK. Thanks to Pivnizub for this bottle.

Bottle from Pivnizub. Golden color, just a touch hazy. Malty flavor with just a touch of smoke. Hint of lychee. No specific aroma and not abundant with flavors, but nevertheless a solid beer.

Golden color, peararoma. Pear flavor with hints of dust, hops and biscuit. Thinnish, not unfriendly, but lacking character. Bottle from Pivnizub. 330 ml bottle, tasted jan 2012. Blonde, pours a huge head. Floral aroma. 5.4% ABV. Malty sweetish flavor with boiled milk and grassy notes. Bready. OK.
